Dad-gum hurricane debris... I been pulling nails out of tires left and right... Gonna be that way a while, I guess..

Score for last week:

Snap.. 2 nails, same tire..

Snaps' Mom.. 3 roofing nails, in two tires.. one tire's probably trashed. (and Mom just bought 4 new tires a week before the storm)..

Snaps' Pop.. 1 roofing nail, but it did'nt matter cause something cut a big gash in the sidewall = trashed tire... Have'nt checked the rest of his tires yet..

Now I'm all out of tire plugs, and so are the stores.. I was informed by the cashier that some TURKEY-BUZZARD bought ALL the plugs from the autozone...

RAZZLE-FRATS!....

If it makes you feel better, this year I have had 3 plugs on the same tire and 1 in a different tire from getting nails in them.........and I don't live anywhere near any hurricane debris (I prolly just need to do a better job of picking up after various projects :) )

We've picked up four nails in the past 2 months. There is a lot of building going on in Raleigh though.

Snapper this is weired. I was just thinking about this the other day. I have never had to deal with a situation like this but I thought about all those shingles, tin and what not blowing every where. I came to the conclusion that flats were a problem.

Snap if you will e-mail me your address I will get you some plugs on the way. I just happen to have a few in the garage.

Snap, it might be worth investing in one of those magnetic sweepers, roofers use them all the time.

man I hated it after a few storms here, was good when part of my business was tire sales and repair but after that hurricane debris just bites.
one thing about a roofing nail, no matter how you run over it it will stick in a tire.

You could mount it about a foot in front of your bumper... pick up the nails as you drive.....

Ya and when you visit your local Walmart, all of the empty shopping carts will try to get intimate with your vehicle :p :D

Put "Slime" in your tires. I was sceptical until I did it out of despiration. I had to put the sub-mini spare on the car and limped over to my favorite autoparts store. I put a bottle in my flat tire and pumped it up. I found a nail and pulled it. Air immediately leaked out. I rolled the tire leak side down and the slime plugged the hole. I've put a couple of thousand miles on the tire now and not even a slow leak. The nail was in the tread area.

gspig.. I looked at Slime, but it says on the directions not to use it in tires that run over 65 mph (interstates round here run 75+, or you get run over)... May try it anyway though..

Bubbakat.. I might take you up on the offer... :D Thanks..

We have the same problem on the west coast of Florida...Nails everywhere! Especially those &^%@# sheetrock screws and roofin nails.
I am obscessed with intersections now. I often stop at the greatest shigrin of any drivers behind me, and pick them up. When they beep their horn, i open my hand to show them the number of sharps. They generally lay off the horn, and i get an occasional "thanks, buddy" out of them.
I see lots of nails in the piles of debris kicked up in the margins, and they'll lay there until some poor sod picks them up in his tire. There are few street sweepers here, and the areas that are swept are not swept well.

Must have missed the part of the instructions that note a speed limit. I drive mine at 75 - 80 occasionally and no noticable effects.
