While fishing this weekend I pulled my pull rope to start my motor and it got stuck in the out position. I couldn't get it to go back in. I finally figured out that the end of the spring coil had managed to get pulled through the hole in it's metal housing and jammed it all up. I managed to get it apart and now it works ok except it doesn't get quite all the way back in after a pull. Do I just need to get more tension on the spring before putting it back together? Or is there something else I am missing.
Now I have a bigger problem. Apparently when putting the pull rope assembly back in I managed to break a piece of the motor that is unrelated to the pull rope. It is a white plastic piece kind of in the shape of a U. It is attached to a metal linkage that I think goes to a valve in the carb. In any case the motor idles fine with this piece broken but when I give it the gas I get next to nothing which makes me think that the motor isn't getting the message to give more gas flow. I need to get this part replaced and if I knew the name of the part it would probably help when I got to the marine store. Thanks for any help.

Mike
