Hello everyone!
I just purchased a boat (2nd one) at auction that I gotta a heck of a deal on. It's a 17.5 or 18ft Stuery tri-hull w/ 125 Evinrude. It's almost twice as wide as most boats.(This thing makes my full size Bronco look small.) It came with a trailer,a complete convertible top w/ rear enclosure and cover for bow area,(it is completely covered from front to engine when every thing is up)and a heavy canvas trailerable docking/mooring cover. It runs great,it floats!!
Just needed minor work (bilge pump-tach-radio)
all for $400.00.
Okay-- (point of the subject)-- the wife and I decided to name this beast, and I'm not good with stuff like this. I.E my cat's name is CAT for god's sake!!!!!!! So please throw me some idea's. :p

Re: Name that boat

I need some help naming my first boat. it's a 1972 Starcraft Capri w/ a 65 horse Merc. On our very first trip to the lake, and my first attemt to ever back-up a trailer, we got the boat in the water and the batterie was dead.

Re: Name that boat

We've been toying with idea of naming our boat also. Its blue & silver and I bought a '92 Ford F150 stepside custom *just* because it is exact shade of blue and silver. I'm thinking of just Blue for the boat and put Blue Too on the truck. My daughter's name is Katie and we thought about Katie's Delight but my son wasn't impressed with that one. If it was a 90+ mph bass rig, I would name it Blue By You.

BL...

I've had the name "Channel Surfer" in mind for a while now but my wife doesn't like it so I'll give it away for free.

Give it away for free??? Gives me a business idea where you register every possible boat name and then when someone wants it, you charge them an arm and leg. Sounds like something I've seen on internet before ;)

BL...

Re: Name that boat

Well, naming is never fun if you can't come up with the name you like.

I am the best example. I have a 26' 4-ton mini-cruiser. She's big, she's huge, especially on the trailer :) but we can't find the right name for her. Initially I put a list together and I picked "F a t B i t c h" as the most suitable name. But you probably don't want to see this kind of name on the water, right?

I still haven't found the right name. I just keep thinking about the size when coming up with names which causes me to generate ideas like "The lil' One", "Sea Mite" (sounds Australian? :) ) etc.

Any help is appreciated.

Racohoon, I know very well how you feel. But I think you already mentioned the name of your boat in the post: "The Beast" :)

Lou

JUST SHOOT ME DEAD NOW--PLEASE!! Having this discussion w/ neighbor while working on boat in driveway. Informed him of responses from this forum, he thinks for a minute to himself; and before I could get away before he said something stupid-- he looks up to me and says "I got it! CAT BEAST,or maybe BEAST MASTER! That's it BEASTMASTER!!"
OH GOD TAKE ME NOW!! I CAN'T TAKE IT!!! ;)
I know he's just trying to help, but I swear he should be medicated and watched closely sometimes! :D We're still searching.

72CAPRI-- I did come up w/ something for your's, how does "D.O.A" strike you? or "CALL FOR BACK-UP" :D :D

Re: Name that boat

I was just reveiwing a posting I had in the engine/motor section. I had a question about the tell-tale on my motor, I couldn't find it, and had no water coming out of one anywhere. Anyway Cap'n Joe Reeves replies to my posting informing me it doesn't have one. It exits thru the exhaust.
Up here every one refers to it as a pisser or pee-hole. I'm toying w/ "LOOK- NO PEE PEE" or just "NO PEE PEE". :D
I don't know; it just don't reach out and grab you does it?

Racohoon, how about Peeless?

BigBabyLou, when we got out first "big" server at work (a dual processor, hot swap, RAID-5 drives, etc.), we named it Big Mama. Just a thought.

BL...

Re: Name that boat

If you toss in an "r" you can change peeless to peerless. Now that's a statement! ;)

Re: Name that boat

Sometimes a play on words using your wifes and kids names (don't know you status). Something related to how you fish or what you fish for. Your personality or some trait or something. Or just name it after the cat, or better yet do what you do best and call her BOAT.

Re: Name that boat

Well, since boats are really just guy toys,

what about "Morning Glory" ?? anyone who has woken up with one (and lets face it, what guy hasn't???.) will tell... they are big, they are brassy, and they take control... and have you ever tried to p!ss through one? (Thats for your benefit Mr racohoon :)
:) :) :) :)

rgds

Frank

Re: Name that boat

12stepper, I might consinder your options. Especially "Size Matters" or "Wide Load" (though the first one sounds better to me :) ).

Racohoon, would "NO P.P." do it?

And I second the "D.O.A." for 72capri. Who's with me?!? :D

Have fun and be safe!
Lou

Re: Name that boat

"Big Baby Lou" sounds like one heck of deal..I just bought a '72 wellcraft w/'84 70hp didn't have to do much work ( wirirng , buldge pump), for 2 grand, and the people on the river said I got the steal of the summer! Well the story goes he was 85 yrs. old and his family wouldn't let him take it out anymore! She doesn't look the greatest so we named her......" WHO CARES"

Good luck
Deuce

Re: Name that boat

Racohoon,

I have found (naming pets, 5 current cats, 1 sicilian ass (burro), 1 horse, 1 toad, 2 frogs, 2 guinee pigs, 1 dague(don't ask)) that after a period of time they tend to name themselves. For example one of our cats is "Big Head", you guessed it, he has a big head.

First boat was the "Neversink", yep! It never sank.

Good luck.

Cheers.

emp.
