Name this outdrive

I haven't found any other numbers or letters other than the volvo logo on it. My boat is a 1990 Baretta Phaser230 OB with a AQW231A. The lower unit has been replaced at one time. This is currently the only picture I have of the out drive. Also I took this boat on it's maiden voyage yesterday since I bought it. The trim started to get to the point to where it wouldn't raise. I pulled the seat and found the pump. I could feel the relay clicking but no movement. I pulled the "big wire" off of each relay and swapped the relays. I pushed the down button and it raised the out drive like I was wanting to do to trailer it. It wouldn't go down then as I expected. I put the wires back to normal and left it. Are these relays just a regular relay or are the something special?

there is a trim gauge on the dash. anything more than 7 degrees up, and you are no longer triming the drive (your raising it). there should be a secondary trigger on the controls that you need to hold in while pressing the up switch to raise the drive above 7 degrees. this is an interlock to prevent you from raising the drive too much while under way.

Yeah I knew that. When I swapped the wires it didn't seem to stop me at 7 degrees. It went on up and I stopped it at 44. I do know the button your talking about. When I picked the boat up the guy had it lowered so it would fit in his garage. It worked then and it started out working when I first got onto the water. after a bit I had to keep hitting the up button to get it to move. About the time I was pulling out of the water it wouldn't go up at all.

when you swapped the wires, you bypassed the interlock (its electrical - its the relay on the back of the gauge). you then used the down button to raise the drive. I would check the relay or the switch if you were using the switch properly.
