Does anybody have the NAPA part numbers for the coils, ignition tune-up kit, carb rebuild kit, head gasket, and impeller for a 1957 Johnson 18hp model fd-11?
I have the original 1957 Johnson part numbers but the NAPA books only show part numbers back to 1973.
Here are the original 1957 Johnson part numbers:
Coil 580197
Breaker assembly 580148
Condenser 510173
Head gasket 304688
Impeller assembly 375638
I do not have the carb rebuild kit part number.
Update to those that have been helping me, I pulled the flywheel and one coil was bad oozing, which explains why one plug was fouled and one was good. I plan to replace both coils, points, etc so that I know when it all went in.
After that I plan to start the motor and decarb it. Once that is complete the plan is to rebuild the carb, then replace the impeller pump. The plan is to limit what was changed so if it does not start I know where to begin troubleshooting. I found the instructions to tune-up from a link on iboats.

Those procedures were for a Johnson 5.5 of the same vintage. I figure the instructions are similar, just not sure if the NAPA part numbers are the same as the Johnson part numbers are different from what is listed for the 5.5 and the 18.
Oh, one other set back....I am replacing the transom on the Lund 314 Sportsman fiberglass boat that I plan to install this motor on.....
To quote Clark W Griswald in the Vacation movie series "We're standing at the threshold of hell, what else could possibly go wrong?"
Maybe it is a good thing I live where you can only boat 6 months a year, so I have the other 6 to keep things running.
As always to all of you that have helped me out....Thanks! I can't believe that I am within a few weeks of having this ready to hit the water, starting with a seized motor and a boat that had not been in the water since 1993!
