Did you hear the crowd cheering when it happened? Couldn't be all bad.

Call it what is was, it was dirty racing on Matt's part, that is simple and true. Now it is over and we move to the next race and NASCAR will figure out what to do about it.

He will be put on suspension and the two will be told not to do any further contact. Flat tires happen at the darnest of times.

So much speed when contact was made that they were in the wall before he could get off the gas. Sounds good to me. Not saying it is right but yes you could see it coming. I would thought he would get the 2 and not the 22.

The Penalties;
Daytona Beach, Florida (November 3, 2015) -- Matt Kenseth , the driver of the No. 20 car, has been penalized for an infraction that occurred during the Nov. 1 race at Martinsville Speedway. This is a Behavioral Penalty(Sections 12.1, 12.8).Kenseth has been suspended from NASCAR through the completion of the next two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship events and placed on NASCAR probation for a six-month period following issuance of the penalty notice.

"Based upon our extensive review, we have concluded that the No. 20 car driver, who is no longer in the Chase, intentionally wrecked the No. 22 car driver, a Chase-eligible competitor who was leading the race at the time,"said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer. "The No. 20 car was nine laps down, and eliminated the No. 22 car's opportunity to continue to compete in the race.

"Additionally, we factored aspects of safety into our decision, and also the fact that the new Chase elimination format puts a premium on each and every race. These actions have no place in NASCAR."

? Danica Patrick, the driver of the No. 10 car, has been penalized for an infraction that also took place during the Nov. 1 race at Martinsville Speedway. This is a Behavioral Penalty (Sections 12.1, 12.8). Patrick has been fined $50,000, assessed with the loss of 25 series championship driver points and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31.

Tough love but hey, what goes around comes around. Matt is a gentleman but everyone has a breaking point. I'm sure he will get flack from team owner and sponsors too.

As I said, the punishment has been metered out, and now we go to the next race and may the best driver win.

You gotta know that any fights, conflicts, wrecks, rivalries can only be good for NASCAR/racing as a whole....draws attention to the sport and sells tickets and network TV time....

Why do the drivers out of the "playoffs" still get to race in those races? I think it would be cool to see a race with only 12 cars in it. not 50 cars. And all of the guys out of the chase can just wreck other guys on purpose. I think if anyone wrecks anyone on purpose, they should be suspended. But this is the first time that has ever happened.

This is the 1st time a driver wrecked another and was suspended? It has happened in the past - Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Robby Gordon among others. This only just longest timeout.

Because every single Sunday I see a guy get wrecked intentionally....
If they wanna make a real playoff, dont let scrub drivers into it.

I think it would be very boring watching 12 drivers go round and round. In fact, I wouldn't watch.

Scrub drivers? Is that everyone but the 12 in the Chase? And when they get eliminated every 3 races those drivers shouldn't be out there either. The last race would have 4 drivers...... Riveting tv........
