Guess you're on the north shore, Angus? You guys got hammered pretty good. I'm looking at 12-14" here in West Babylon. Already been out with the snowthrower and cleared about half the driveway. Still need to clear off 2 cars and jockey them around so I can get to the rest of it. It'll take a good part of the day before we're 'functional' again.

Good luck- take your time. It ain't worth a heart attack.

Just guessing. Above my knees and below my keys. There was such intense bands that neighboring towns received different amounts. The winds piled it up to the roof on one side of my car and the tires on the other side. Slow and steady!

About 24" in the Boston area . . . News reports of 30" + in parts of CT. Just spent 3 hours snowblowing the driveway, a path for the oil delivery man, the neighbor's driveway, mailbox, etc . . .

Just five miles north of me received 32" and there are vehicles stranded on every road. County has a lot of work ahead. News station has scores of people calling in on cell phones from their cars who spent the night in them. Hoping everyone makes it out okay.

Glad to see you're safe and warm, and hope those stranded get home safe.

It amazes me with days of notice and warnings that people persist with venturing out or not leaving work early (or not going in).

Common sense and the weather channel beating this to death before the storm would tell you that is going to be pretty bad, but common sense is no longer common.

Just saw they are saying there are 100 cars stranded on the L.I.E. Could have been much worse.

About 12" here. Driveway and cars all cleaned up, roads clear. Kiss off, Nemo!

And when did 'they' start naming winter storms? I stumbled on that last night. Have I been holed up in a cave, or what?

Weather Channel started the stupid idea this winter. I guess they think Storm of the Century was over used. The "T" storm is Tinker Bell cause the whole notion is kinda Mickey Mouse.

Yup, this whole idea of naming winter storms is just for the hype . . . which was way too much for 'Nemo', IMHO. We have storms of this magnitude every 4-5 years and seem to survive them. With the media hyping the storms, it gets everyone whipped up into a frenzy . . .

I don't see how naming winter storms can put anyone in more of a frenzy than just calling it a Blizzard or a strong blizzard or a big blizzard.

The europeans have been naming winter storms for decades and I don't see any difference in naming winter storms and hurricanes.

We all give memorable winter storms a name anyway even if it's just "The Winter Storm of '93" or the blizzard of 2003, naming winter storms makes them easier to keep track of... at least for me.

Wimmen! Geez! 20 cans of beer maybe! Although that wouldn't really be enough, just a start. But a good start.

Yeah, well, not sure why it would be considered a joke. If you're snowed in, French Toast is pretty nice. Even if you're not snowed in...

Re: nasty storm for the atlantic north east

The Admiral and I went to check on the 'Cape' house today, now that the travel ban has been lifted. Roads are mostly clear and dry, but there is the occasional 'disappearing lane' on the highway.

No power on Cape Cod . . . our whole area seems to be out. So, I had to do a quick and dirty winterization of the house, but the temps are supposed to moderate this week. My boat tarp and frame seemed to weather the storm OK . . .

NSTAR (power company) says that they plan to have power restored to all areas of Cape Cod by Thursday night (awesome) That will be as much as 6 days without power (heat, etc). It looks like an automatic power generator will be in our future plans.

Buy a propane powered unit, they don't have to be run monthly to keep the carbs from gumming up.
