Ok, usually I can figure this stuff out ok but when fishing the other night, my nav lights decided to stop working. I knew it was the switch because I could feel the internals getting messed up. It would click over one way for just anchor light but to get both nav and anchor I would need to really press it over but wouldnt click over. Hard hits on waves would make it go back to the off position.

ANYWAY, I bought a replacement switch. Double Pole, Double Throw, On/Off/On Was this the right switch to buy? And how do I wire it? I have a feeling I need to wire a jumper wire some where in their and use some of those piggy back connectors.

I can get alllll the details tomorrow if you need more.

Re: Navigation Light Wiring

Look at the switch that is mounted in your boat.

Look at the switch that you just bought

If they are not the same, Return it and try to find a switch that is identical in both appearance and the connection points on the back.

If you are not sure about the wiring, hold the replacement switch next to the old one and move one wire at a time to avoid having to fully understand the wires.

If the switch is not identical, you will need to have a full understanding of the Nav light circuit or you will end up with one when you get it right.

Either way, it is not rocket surgery. Go for it.

If you make a mistake at the switch, the worse that can happen is the light wont work, the lights wont turn off, or the nav and anchor light are not separated.

Navigation Light Wiring- HELP PLEASE

Navigation Light Wiring- HELP PLEASE

Guys, how do I wire a switch which has one pole at each position?

Not double pole, it is the original switch in my 1990 Ski Centurion, I rewired a bad wire and now can't figure out how to hook up.

I've not done this before.

There are dash lights for stern light and bow light, the swith also powers the dash lights.

I can't figure out how to set up so that the bow light is not on all the time.

Thank you,
Joel

Re: Navigation Light Wiring

I've posted this diagram a gazillion times (seemingly) but here it is again. You need a 50 cent diode from Radio Shack to complete the install.
