I'm trying to restore my 1976 TerryBass fiberglass boat and need to replace the steering cable. It's not a Ezy-Glide because they say they didn't start up until 1981. The cable is smaller in diameter than modern cables used today. I can't find any labels in the stick steer lever box or the cable. It needs to be 12' long. I know I can replace the whole unit with a new Ezy-Glide but I'd like to keep it original as possible. Anybody have a solution?

What motor is on the boat? I had a 1976 Terry ABF15 with a Merc 850 and it had the Mercury Rideglide steering. Went to replace a cable 10 or so years later and found it was obsolete and had to replace the helm also.

Sorry, I didn't read your thread close enough. I see you said it was stick steering. Can't be of much help locating a cable. Fenwick owned Terry but they got out of the boat building business years ago. Good luck.
