i have a 2-stroke now, its not that dependable and I think i want to upgrade to 4-stroke. with the 15" transom folks are telling me that the outboards out there are too long and wont fit. can someone let me know what brand/type of 25hp outboard i should be looking for and a general price i should pay for a used one, ie less than a few years old? if it matters, i want a tiller and ill also be attaching a rack steering system. thanks!
<br /><br />If it is a tiller boat you don't want a 25, mkchriminy. First of all, a 25 4 stroke would be too heavy for the 11, and second, as a tiller boat the 11 is only rated for 10hp.<br /><br />I had a '97 Johnson 9.9 4 stroke on my 11 and it was fine. It was a short shaft engine that I paid $800 for.<br /><br />Good luck.
