Any one got a carb that they would like to sell for a 1980 140 mercruiser. I purchased one off of ebay and the fella said it would work, but guess what it didnt. So now I have one for a 3.0 liter I think that I would like to sell or trade. The one that I would like to sell has a small base and the one that I need has a little bigger one.

Re: need a carb

Hi Bishop12.
Don't get discouraged. Resell the carb on ebay.

I suggest getting the exact model carb you need. If you're going to do otherwise, be very sure the person selling you the unit knows the difference. I'm sure if you post here before buying, someone can tell you for sure if what you're about to purchase will or won't work!

By the way, have you determined that your current carb is totally unservicable? It may be worth spending the hundred bucks or so to have a marine shop do the rebuild for you, which would include a "boil out" that can make all the difference.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool to get a nice new carb and put the issue to bed, but just make sure you get what you need if you go that route.

Whatever you decide, good luck!
