I'm in the process of changing shift and throttle cables on a 86 90hp Merc inline six. The controls are a Merc remote commander 2000. I have the factory outboard manual, but the page that shows and identifies the cable connections to the motor is too dark to make out very well. I'm trying to find out which cable in the control box (upper vs lower) is the shift and which is the throttle. And trying to figure out the same on the motor end. I've got my teleflex xtremes and want to tackle this tomorrow, so if anyone can help, please let me know.
thanks in advance.....
Tony

Tony, When you first put the motor into gear, the gear shift cable moves first, followed by the throttle cable. At the motor, the bottom cable is the shift cable, which attaches to the horizontal arm under the carbs. The top cable attaches to the throttle arm.
