need a diagram for complete tear down for a 197? merc 9.8

i tore the motor down last year to replace the plastic peice for the shifter now i have time to put it back together i could use a diagram so i dont put something on and have to take it back apart because i missed something any help would be appreciated thanks

If you want to do this disassembly and reassembly correctly (the first time) you need the factory service manual for your exact engine. For that you need the serial number of the engine to determine its year of manufacture. You might find a manual on E-bay or as close as your local library if you are lucky.
