Need a drive shaft, What motors and years use the same shaft as this.....

1986 Johnson 140 hp mod # J140TLCDC. The # on the broken shaft is 391381. When I look for a shaft, Is there more than just that year and hp to find one?

go on marine engine.com. clic on johnson you will see a square 1968-2011 put in your model number. then clic on gearcase, then scroll down to number 39. select part number 5000777 and you will get a list of compatible motors. be sure to clic where it says show more/fewer compatible motors. the list is quite long its from 85 hp to 140 hp. from 1980 until 1991. be sure to check the model numbers carefully because some of the later ones have three different gearcases and 2 different shafts. sorry i tried to give you the link but i was not able to get it to work.

Its cheaper to convert it to a 2 piece unit, just buy the lower shaft and install the correct length upper... As for units that fit 1984-1990 years and 88/90/110/115/120/140hp's basically all the V-4 motors will fit.
