According to Mercruiser they no longer make the "attaches with a screw" impeller, however the impeller that attaches with a stud is available. It looks like you can upgrade to the newer stud style impeller (available) by replacing the screw with a stud. check out section 3A-23 in the Service manual #8 (3.7 L), in the Mercruiser manual section of the "adults only" section of this forum. You can download the manual (big! takes a while to download). Good luck.:) Your local Mercruiser dealer should be able to help you out, or try http://www.mercruiserparts.com/mercruiser_parts.asp

Your going to have to pull the crank damper off. In order to do the job. So you need a timing cover gasket set. If the motor has some hours on it. Replace the timing chain and tensioner while its open. Also on the timing cover theres 2 bushing that ride on the camshaft to seperate antifreeze from entering the oil. Replace that too.

Matt: Don't get scared, but here is the procedure for doing the water pump repair: http://www.sterndrives.com/470information/470coolantleakrepair.html Yah it is pretty intense, but I did it and it was not so bad. I did not use the speedi-sleeves (did not know about them), but it worked out just fine (probably would use them now). Did not use the installer tool for the damper (used the crank bolt and some genital tapping with a 2X4, would not recommend). There is a photo of the tool on page 4C-5 of the manual, looks like you could make one with a long bolt some greased washers and a nut (just make sure you engage all the threads in the crank). I was lucky, had enough room to pull damper without pulling the engine. Doing the timing chain is a good idea, going in there once is enough. Have fun!:D
