Yesterday we were at my grand daughter's house when this little pit/heeler (?) mix dog wanders up on the verge of a heat stroke and almost starving. I gave her some water and a few dog treats then went in the house. Almost 4 hours later, I came back and she was laying under the bush just waiting and walked over to my van as though she was ready to leave.
Since I couldn't leave her there because of the 2 year old and her fascination with dogs. I let her in the van and took her home with me. My boxer was overjoyed by the presence of a female. After he chased her around for almost 2 hours I heard a whistling sound from the back and went to check. There he was still chasing her while having some form of an asthma heat stroke thing and virtually unable to breathe.
I brought him in the house and bathed him then laid him out on the kitchen floor with a large bowl of icewater and rubbed him down with cold towels until he finally relaxed and began breathing normally again. Then he went to sleep. Apparently, so worn out from the whole ordeal that he was just exhausted.
I told him it was ridiculous that he was going to fool around and die from his first experience. Kinda trying to embarass the family there.
Anyway, if someone is interested in adopting the female let me know. Hurry up though; before my boxer dies from frustration.
