I have a 67 Mercury 500 with a 11 Splined prop shaft. only one company makes propellers for it (Propco) i have a prop from them, i have a few older mercury 2 Blade Props for it. Is it Possible to have new hubs put on these props since they are spun? i cant find any hubs with the 11 spline center sections. but i have the old ones. can they be adapted?

Prop shops press in rubber hub replacements. Michigan wheel made the aftermarket brass/bronze wheels for boats of that era. I had several for OMC and Merc. They are still in business although bought out by someone else. If you hit a brick wall on this, give them a shout. Surely they will sell you a hub and Utube may show you how to do the installation yourself.

See if there is a prop shop near you and give them a look at the props. Usually the splined brass hubs are reused, with new rubber components. . Not sure you can press in a new hub w/o special equipment.

I think Frank Acupora (spelling) did it when he was fooling around with his Chryslers and experimenting with this and that. I too felt you need a special fixture/press to ensure you get it straight so that the prop would run true and not wobble causing vibration. I don't recall Frank talking about any performance issues nor do I recall how he did it to ensure required perfection.

any prop shop worth its salt can fix you up.... very few left that re-hub props. one of them is General Propeller in Bradenton FL
