glastron are noted for the floors and transom going bad. and engine that has sat 8 years, is very questionable as the outdrive. 2 K for a questionable hull and engine, your buying a trailer. and lots of work. why has it sat for 8 years. the first thing i would do is pull the plugs, squirt oil in cylinders, pull distributer and prime oil pump, as all the oil has long since dripped off. then try to turn it over by hand, wrench on harmonic balancer nut. if could be siezed by rust, exhaust manifolds could be shot. water pump. and on and on. was it winterized, if not run. it really sounds like a tow off to me. and the seller should be happy.

take a rubber malot, and tap pretty hard all around the transom, listen for a different sound, solid wood should sound sharp, rotten would thud. work in a circle from the outside, in noting the sound. if still ing question you can drill a couple of test hole from the inside, carefully not to go all the way thru. dry wood will look like wood, wet/rotten wood will look like mush. then seal hole with 5200.

just read you PM. if worried about the floor, you can also , do the test holes, especially near the engine mounts, and around the seats. 80% of the rotten boats are from people not sealing fasteners on add ons.

Glastons once dominated the glass boat ind, some of the boat's are to me just beautiful, but that could come from my later teen youth and all of its advenutres and wonder's but how could one not call this boat drop dead gorgeous

Be prepared for a lot of work and if you buy it, keep that in mind..........maybe $500-800..........

Just a opinion your milage may vary

Google search for Glastron Carlson - there are at least 3 websites dealing with these boats.

$2k may be quite reasonable depending on what the boat sells for in good shape. Take into consideration that if you can't do work yourself, you're talking a minimum of $3-4k to get that boat back in running shape with a reasonable interior in it.

If it sat out for a long time, it would have to be covered. Don't assume the floor is good.. Don't assume the stringers are good.

A v8 that sat for 8 years may be done too, especially if not properly winterized..

I love Glastron Carlsons, I was chasing a 1989 19CSS for a while - guy selling it wanted 7500, hadn't run in 2 years. Some floor damage, needed a carb and some out drive work... In good shape, it'd bring 10k.

Buying a 1998 CSX-23 instead... A little more modern, less classic.
