I have a 96 17' starcraft with a 125hp mariner. The prop and the new spare doesn't have any info on them for what pitch they are. This thing wants to rev way over 6k I haven't had it over 5250 and there's ton of throttle left and I'm only going 34mph. Just looking for advice on what to do?

The Mercury Marine web site has a "prop selector" you can use to get a recommendation on what mercury prop(s) to use on your set up. It's free and easy to use.

Or you can provide the info contained in the sticky above;"how to get the info you need" and have someone look it up for you.

That engine runs a 2:1 gear box. 17P on that boat with that engine is light on pitch if you ask me. Go to www.go-fast.com and look up their prop slip calculator. Put in your gear ratio and the WOT rpm you want to run with the propeller pitch and get an estimated speed. Plug in slip and get an actual speed. Clear out the results and plug in another pitch and run the numbers again. Slips of 10-15% probably fits your rig.

You sure there arn't any numbers at all on the prop hubs? That's unusual.

Thanks for the advice. Its weird on my old pontoon the prop had all the info stamped into the outside of the hub. I watched some videos on youtube and will try to measure my prop and see what they are.
