Hello,
I was working on restoring this motor (85ML79R).
It is ready to go on the boat, but it has just tilt assist cylinder, so it is manual tilt.
I was thinking about adding power tilt.
There is a bunch of them on Ebay from $100 to $300.
I do not have experience with Power T&T, so can anyone advise what to look for this motor?

Thanks.

1979 up until around 1990 will work, anything from a 3cyl to v6 will work. I would try to find a mid 80s 2 wire unit that uses the smaller relays. Try to get as much of the harness as possible especially the relay box. They are a direct bolt in so installation is fairly easy. Either take the motor off of the boat or pull one of the transom brackets off. you cannot use a Fast trac unit from a newer model they don't fit.

Thank a lot for valuable info, because most of what I see for sale is FastTrac.
Motor is on a stand now. A little too cold to put it on now, boat sits outside.

The RC unit that I have now came with 1981 Evinrude (E50BELCIC).
Do not know if it is original, but it does not have T&T buttons.
Is there a way to get separate switch for T&T to work?

The 1980 accessories book shows a trim tilt switch that mounts anywhere on the boat.

As winter going close to the end I am back to boating projects.
I did get PT&T unit, relay and switch above.
PT&T unit has 2 wired: green and greenish\bluish one.
When I apply 12 V to them unit goes up and in revers wiring it goes down as supposed to.
The problem with it is that it came with 2 out of 6 mounting bolts broken and sitting in the body , so it will be the challenge to get them out, but this is different question.

What I really need help with is to figure how to wire this thing properly since it is not a "native" setup.

The switch has 3 wires: red\blue\green. I assume that red will take 12V and blue and green will go to UP and DOWN on relay.

The relay (pics below) has black wire (ground?) , double red cable, one light green, one dark green, and cable with 5 wires ( blue+white, green+white, red+white, white+brown, black+white)

How do I connect switch to relay and relay to the motor?

Tnx.

grenn blue drives the t&T by simply reversing polarity under relaycontrol

relays need battery +12 &grd and therest are control wires to the up down switch to flip polarity to the T&T motor

He is back to life, ready for striper season.

Thanks everyone who helped!
