need all opinions on 225 HO direct injection!!

i'm looking to repower my 2600lb baja hammer with my 1991 250 v8 with a 2004 evinrude 225 HO hdpi. i need as much feedback as possible. i've done searches but came up with very little(guess thats good). thanks for any input!...james

Are you talking about one of the V8 OMC outboards or is this an IO to Outboard repower?<br />Mac

An Evinrude 225HO for 2004 is only available in 20" shaft length and is designed for high performance boating such as with bass boats, bay boats, and sport boats that have capabilities of over 60mph. It uses a smaller diameter gearcase, has firmer motor mounts, and is tuned for top end performance.<br /><br />Your 2600# boat may not perform too well with that motor. A traditional 225 Evinrude would be bettter for a stronger midrange powerband.
