Need Assistance with Fuel Line Fitting

1996 4.3 LX Gen+ with S/N 0F803561.
Previous owner replaced the fuel pump with an unknown brand (1st picture).
They cut off the stock electrical connector and directly spliced the wires (2nd picture).
Pump works great but leaks at the inlet fitting due to a very shoddy installation.
They threaded the fuel line fitting directly into the inlet of the pump (3rd picture).
But that pump inlet fitting is not designed to accept the flare type fitting (4th picture).
So while the nut was tight in the threads, the metal fuel line was quite loose and leaking.
There needs to be an adapter fitting in there similar to the carb inlet fitting (5th picture).
Can anyone help me figure out what fitting I need to order to install there.?
Mercruiser P/N: 22-805026A1 is used in that location with the OEM fuel pump.
But I don't know if that same fitting might work with this aftermarket fuel pump...

Your question is confusing. The thing you are calling the "carburetor inlet fitting," is that the line from the fuel tank?

Assuming yes, you can make up practically any combination of connections that you like with couplers you can find at home centers, auto parts places, hardware stores, and the like. You can even have a section of hose barbs, hose clamps and marine-rated fuel hose. There might even be a single coupler that joins the tapered pipe fitting of the pump and the flare fitting of the tube.

No, that is actually the carburetor inlet fitting, where the metal fuel line FROM the fuel pump attaches.
(I just happened to have it removed as well, so that I can replace the small screen filter in the carburetor).
The reason I included it was to show the TYPE of fitting I need to recreate at the inlet of the fuel pump.
My problem is where the metal fuel line coming up from the water separator connects to the fuel pump.
(everything from the fuel tank all the way to the fuel pump inlet is still stock, and in good condition).
So it's just that one fitting interface at the fuel pump inlet that I need to address and remedy (3rd picture).

either 9 or 5 in attached diagram


that assumes the pump is stock size fittings. If aftermarket universal fit may have to take it to the autoparts store or home center. Looks like you will need a pipe thread to 3/8" female flare fitting

I decided to take a gamble and went ahead and ordered it last night.
I'm hoping the fitting on my pump is the same as the one on the stock pump.

before you get in too deep make sure they ordered the correct pressure pump.

Airtex/Carter makes the OEM pumps so often folks get an Airtex vs paying the OEM cost. There are low (carbed engine) and high (injected) pressure pumps.

Is it acceptable to just dead head the pump in order to check the pressure.?
(I assume the pump has some type of internal bypass feature, since its feeds a float bowl?).
What is the proper pressure range I should be looking for (for carbed version).? Thanks.!
