So I bought a boat that did not have a motor, this is a project boat and I have never hooked up a motor before nor have I been around enough boats to see what parts are needed to hook them up. So I need to know if there is anything that I need to purchase to hook up my motor and how do I do it.

I have a 1990 Procraft Bass Boat that I have to assume the steering is original. The motor is a 1970 Johnson 115HP model # 115esl70d. I know this is not the motor that belongs on the boat, but please understand this is the first boat project that I have ever done, and I would rather not purchase a $15k motor to watch it sink to the bottom of the lake, at least this one only cost me my PS3.

So I have a Dual cable steering system, but there is nothing attached to the end of the cables heres a pic:

And the motor does not have anything on it either I am looking for the pics of my motor but I can not find them. I know there is nothing broken off of the motor there are just no attachments. Any help is appreciated I know Im giving limited info but if I can get the pictures of the motor tonight I will put them up here to help.

Also I can not get the hub to release from the bolt and I had to cut the dash, are there any secrets of how to get them apart. I have used every lubricant I can think of....

I was able to get the steering wheel off, but thats it.

wiring pictures you asked for.

Have you got a pic of the motor yet. I think you will find that your motor only uses a single steering cable. Are you removing the steering wheel hub or the piece behind it?

Ok, so your terminal block is a little different then mine... I like yours better it labels them.... That would have been nice on mine. This thing had wires in all the wrong spots. And I am still not sure that the pulse pack is right. Anyways here is what I've figures out. According to the schematic I have 3 things missing from my motor.

The diode and lead assembly
the coil and yoke assembly
and the temperature switch assembly

Lets start with the Pulse pack. This is a universal unit and does not make much sense to me. Expecially since it says a wire color that is not even there. Here is the schematic for my motor.

here is a pic of my pulse pack and the wires from it.

so there is no green wire but there is a yellow wire, can I assume that the yellow is what is supposed to be the green wire? and if so Where would I attach the Green/yellow wire to.

The White wires appear to be attached correctly so I'm not worried about those.

On the schematic there is a purple and black wire that comes off the pulse pack as well as a blue wire. The blue is supposed to go to the #5 terminal, and the purple and black is supposed to go to # 7. Now I took the red wire and attached it to #5, because there is supposed to be a wire that goes to/from the coil and yoke assembly, Would it be safe to assume that the blue wire would be the red wire on my pulse pack? Then would the yellow wire be the same as the purple and black wire on the schematic?

Here is a PIc of my terminal bar.

Ok, nevermind on the coil and yoke its sitting right next to the ignition pack. Its not in the same place as the factory would have put it so sorry for the confusion. So I am still missing the diode and lead thats for sure.

Still confused on what to do with the wiring from the pulse pack and is this ignition going to be sufficient?

Also it looks like the Coil is missing a wire. with the way that it is set up now how does the coil get power to the distributor?
