I have a 5.0FLPNCS and the SN is 4110139495. The boat is 96 but I think the engine is 95. I am told the pump I need is VP#3854053. I found a Carter #60389 and was told it fits a 93 302 Ford but I don't know if its a match and haven't found someone to be able to tell me sure. Hopefully someone on here can. I figure, this is an easy one for Don.

Thanks for your help.

I can't say for sure, but I don't think it's the same pump.

Volvo goes by model number and not by year. You have an "NC" model.

Your VP number sounds correct. Is that Carter a marine pump?

I have to ask the guy who has it but I've been told that if its a marine pump there will be an M in front of the part number. I'm still wondering if these 2 pumps are the same since they are so close in years.

Re: Need Carter fuel Pump Cross reference

Hello - we have a 2000 Sea Nympth with a similar problem - our fuel pump seems to be flaking off the paint inside and is getting clogged in the filter. We replaced it with what was supposed to the only one they could find, and we have already had the problem again this summer after one time out. The boat ran fine until we were back in the harbor. Took the filter off and it had black particles inside that we believe are coming from the filter. It is a Carter pump - 4 cylinder, 3 liter 0-035 with serial number 608894 C22B (OMC-2000) however I could not find it in the cross reference chart. The S/N on the boat is 302-BMRPWR and serial number is T1200687.

We are trying to either find a replacement or thinking of just switching over to an electronic fuel pump. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Sorry - had the wrong year of our boat (should have been 1990) as I must have been thinking about my anniversary!!

You need to start your own thread millertime, not hijack someone elses thread for your question.

See the announcement just above the Post New Thread button.

You should also be posting in the OMC forum, as your model and serial numbers are OMC, not Volvo.

Re: Need Carter fuel Pump Cross reference

Thanks Don - I am new to the site as I happened to come across it last night and got excited that it might be a place to get some input. I just figured out how to create my own thread and was not intentionally trying to tramp on someone else. I wasn't sure how to delete my posts already made on this thread.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
