NEED HELP...120 merc outdrive

1979 Renken I/O 120hp Merc

We were out on the lake today and hit a huge rock...mangled the prop bad...Now the shaft wont engage...I pulled off the prop and was able to turn the shaft by hand...where do I begin?

not enough info, was it in fwd and spins both ways, yes is a broken shaft or internal damage. pull the drive and split the unit to check.

It was in FWD and only spins one way (forgot which way) anyone know where I can find a manual for the 78 merc 120 outdrive?
