Howdy,

If you do not have a Mercury Service manual #11, now would be a good time to get one.

The raw water pump is located on the starboard-front side of the engine. It is belt driven.

If it has failed completely and has disintegrated, you should try to find all the impeller remnants that will have been pumped downstream of the pump. Most of them usually end up in the oil cooler.

They will obstruct water flow though the oil or possibly the power steering heat exchangers so it's imperative that you find all the pieces.

Regards,

Rick
