Hi this is my first post, I am the new owner of a 1975 AMF/Crestliner Crusader C995. I want to add a trolling motor but I really have no idea what kind to get as far as mounting goes because of the type of boat that it is, one that just clamps on is not going to work. I would like to get one that mounts to the outdrive but I dont want to pay $700+. Can anyone here recommend anything? Here are a few pics of the boat.

So I could just add a small outboard motor? That sounds like a good idea, so how would I mount that?

Yes it is, I have been babying it up hills, only go about 20mph. It has a 351m right now, I am planning on swapping in a 390 someday. So It looks like something like this would work for the outboard http://www.iboats.com/Vertical-Tran...5221746--session_id.896355888--view_id.163280 I have seen some nice antique outboards for sale, I would assume 5hp would be enough because I am only using it as a trolling motor, it just needs to barley move it.

I would'nt think so. Depends on what else you have in mind back there. Like Bob said/implied, start searching around. You'll find all kinds of goodies for that ole gal.

Do you want to drag the motor in the water all the time? Or do you want to store it inside your boat and hoist it over when you want to mount it?

What is your guys opinion of the trolling plate? that looks like the easiest option. I read that it can be hard on your motor though.

Hard on the motor how??? You are not trying to get on plane with the troller plate down. The engine is idling or possibly just off idle.
If you consider a gas kicker, you NEED a folding mount. You cannot leave the kicker in the water when on plane. Your only real choice is indeed a gas kicker.

They were discussing mostly 2 stroke and 4 stoke outboards in that. Your boat is a large boat with an I/O

We would not recommend anything that would hurt the boat/motor

Ok, that's what I was thinking, thanks for the help. I may just end up getting a smaller boat as I am finding out my motor isn't allowed in any of the lakes around here. I just found out the lake I had it on last week has a 20hp max (Marburg), my boat has 188. I do live near the Susquehanna river though, taking it out on that tomorrow.
