I have a 1982 v150 6010145.

I have looked at iboats and I have looked at Napa. I can't find carb parts for this engine. It seems like parts for 1980-1982 aren't available.

Another question, I have access to a 1984 v150. If I can't find parts, can I move the carbs from the 1984 to the 1982 engine? The 1984 engine lost compression in one cylinder.

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks Laddies. I'll take a look. Naturally, my issue is with the floats in the top carb. All of a sudden, they are hitting the wall of the carb (opposite the needle valve) and they are getting stuck.

Re: need help finding float or carb kit

That didn't work. After a nearly 2 week wait. ebasicpower cancelled my order and said that the floats are no longer available. Now I'm back to square one. I can't find a replacement set of floats for a WH-9 carb. Every year seems to have parts available except for 1981-82. What is up with that? Maybe the WH-9 carb was short lived?

Does anyone know if carbs from a 1984 v150 will work on a 1982 v150?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
If the carbs look the same, ie they are WH something, the parts all interchange.

There are about 40 different 2 barrell carbs in the WH series, and the differences aren't always that apparent. I don't think WH9 is anything special, so the floats from the other carbs should fit.

If you just swap carbs over, they may or may not be set up right. Jets are different in different carbs on the same application also. It's a lot of trouble to get them to work, and dangerous to the engine too.

Used carbs on e-bay are usually pretty easy to get. Also check on the boards.

hope it helps

Re: need help finding float or carb kit

Time to resurrect this old thread. I have the same issue on my mid 80's v150 except all 6 of my floats are bad. They all swelled and where hitting the carb bowl and sticking. I dried them out but they stayed too large for the bowl. I then used a file and shaved them so they fit and moved freely. The motor actually runs great now, but I know I am living on a wing and a prayer with this. I have searched and searched and can not find this obsloete part anywhere. Is there a way I can re-seal my foam floats, or something else I can do to give myself some confidence in these carbs? I find it so hard to beleive that a mid 80's 150 hp Merc would be sidelined due to carb floats not being available anymore.
