I have a 1966 18hp evinrude and a 1959 50hp johnson, and I can not find the steering connection I need. The boat I want to mount the motors to is a 60's Bellboy dual cable down each side. If anyone has one to sell or pics of on please let me know. I am wanting to be able to swap on motor to the other as needed.

i just used 1 1/4 angle and drilled holes in it. make it longer for other connections, connectors, pulley and springs here http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Steering...5538576--**********.122608887--view_id.217127

thank you very much for your response, I was wondering if I should just go ahead and fabricate my own. Good idea

TD's idea works well. I did the same thing for a dual engine installation - I made a pair of connectors out of angle. In order to make the horizontal tab longer on mine, I welded a piece of flat bar onto each and shaped them as needed.

One thing that I did find, though, is that they rusted quickly, even when painted. If I had to do it over again, I would have found some galvanized angle/flat bar and then would have used "cold galvanize" (spray can) on the areas that had been welded and/or cut.

One suggestion - if you use galvanized metal and do any welding on it, wear a good quality respirator. Also wear a leather apron. The zinc in the galvanized coating "pops" when you weld it and gives off a toxic cloud of fumes.
