Depends on the temps when painting The majic reducer is for temps in the 80's If cooler use acetone if warmer use mineral spirits

So far so good with the rustoleum paint job. I think I finally found the correct amount of acetone/paint mix & the roll & roll technique. I was able to put on a prime coat that was wet sanded then added my very first main coat with very good coverage.

That rustoleum paint is a very bright white, can't wait to see the final outcome.

Did you read the link that was posted earlier?

I did, I opted out not using any hardener since the Tractor supply near me didn't have any available in store. I needed to take advantage of the sunlight as much as possible and not wasting my time running around picking up additional materials. Im not in hurry to get the boat in the water so I'll have ample amount of time for the paint to cure properly prior to cutting & buffing. To be honest, the paint is already looking good without having to cut & buff, it's not a show boat.

Oh my, I think you will regret not using the hardener. Why? Because the hardener changes the paint chemistry to make it more impervious to fuels and oils and of course scratches. I hope you don't have any real issues with those. I am sure the pinat finish will work out well, but I am not so sure about the longevity now. JMHO

I'm absolutely CERTAIN that your paint job will NOT be satisfactory since you decided NOT to use the Hardener. It will Never cure to the needed hardness and will easily be scratched and damaged. The hardener is sold at a multitude of places, and if you would have informed the members here on the forum they would have directed you to other sources. What prep methods and primer paint did you use?

I used rustoleum etch/filler primer then rolled on what I conside my base coat which was wet sanded and rolled on with another coat. Ive called sherwin williams and other paint Store including napa & auto with no luck on the valspar enamel hardener. I did however find the majic hardener, but I would need to wait a day or pick it up myself which is a 30 mile drive. Since im only on my second coat, would i be able to add the hardener on my next 3-4 coats?

Im only on my second coat and was planning to do a 4-5 coats of paint, hopefully I can get the majic hardener purchased & added on before the final coatings.

You can use hardener on the next several coats, but...be aware that the final coats are at the mercy of how well the previous coats adhere to the substrate. IMHO I'd recommend a thorough sanding with 180 grit prior to applying the paint with hardener. This will allow the GOOD paint to get a good BITE into the previous coats. Check with your local Paint Stores that Sell Auto Paint. They ALL have the Acrylic Enamel Hardener and it WILL work just fine with the Rustoleum.

The great northwest will be raining again for the next couple days and no guarantee when I can start adding more paint on the boat so it will sit idle for atleast this whole week. After sanding it down with 180grit, I normally do 500ml of paint and 250ml of acetone. How much hardener should include to that mix? I'm painting outside and the temperature is around 55-60 overcast or not on direct sun light.

Read the link. It has all the info for mixing and applying the paint. 60 ml of hardener per 500 ml of paint. Add the hardener to the paint first mix well let sit for 10 mins then mix again let set for 10 mins mix again let sit for 10 mins and then thin with acetone. and apply.

Well in that case I'll deal with the rain vs your tornado. I might be able to purchase a cheap 10x20 carport from Walmart, as it's on sale for $130 including tarp & side covers. This might actually be handy as I do alot of stop and drop camping anyways and could use it as a tent when the boat is completed
