Need help identifying old motor???

I have searched the internet trying to figure out what I have. Any help would be appreciated. I have a small aircooled outboard that I think was originally blue the plastic motor cover says Spoi sher. You can see the carb butterfly between the i and the second s. The tag on the motor bracket says
J5001108C and below it 376254. This is my first boat and motor and my local warden wants me to make sure what it is since I have a boat title but not an engine title. Thanks.

Never heard of such a wacky name, but the model # sure sounds like a Clinton. How about a picture?

J 500 should be a 70-71 Clinton built.5hp at 5,600 rpm.Clinton has been out of business for some time.
