I've recently bought a boat from an estate sale and it has a humingbird fishfinder installed, it has what looks to be a speedo wheel and a transducer , however it has no powerhead, and contacting the previous owner is impossible. I was wondering if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction as to what kind of powerhead I should order, cause I don't want to have to go through the whole install process again

Pics of the current Xducer and paddle wheel would help. You may be in luck finding a compatible head unit.

Should be easy. Look around on the internet for one that looks like yours. You can post a pic here also.

Thing is most of them come with the transducer. Unless you can find a used one somewhere without. The speed and temp sensor is extra though. I think you can buy a new unit they all plug in the same way and you'll have an extra transducer. They have not changed the frequency in a long time.

Is it factory/dealer installed? A lot of times boats when new come rigged with a depthfinder. Usually it's a certain make/model. Google your boat, check out the ones for sale and see if they have a certain head that they all use......

Look on the cables feeding the back of the mount. Most FF makers have tags with the part numbers on the cables, most I've seen are close to the head connector.

So is it possible for me to buy a newer model and it plug it in and go. I'm all of a sudden having visions of a power head with gas and mapping abilities. Please someone pinch me.

Soo I went out on Lake Erie today, . I brought my pmax 170 hummingbird powered out. Disconnected the wires from the mount and plugged them in to my powered, and it ran my powered. The transducer cable on my boat had five pins and the transducer cable for the pmax 170 only had three. However it worked. I have depth reading and temperature and graphics. Thanks for the help guys. I would have never tried this without your responses.
