All,

Excuse my ignorance as I am new to boating.

I recently have purchased a winter project and it has a stringer stern drive

I am trying to identify this so I can purchase the correct manuals on it

This picture is almost a perfect match to what is on the boat, except the boot is square on mine.... I read somewhere that this indicates that it is a 68 or newer drive

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

I see no one is jumping in, so I'll take a stab at it: I believe it's early '70's with the exhaust out the trim tab spot. I used to have a manual, gave it away when I sold outdrive.

Get several pictures posted from different angles. It will help if you post the year of the boat and Engine Size.

The picture is of an OMC high profile electric shift stringer out drive from the mid 60's. With a square(ish) boot yours is most likely late 60's til 1977 when they went to the hydro mechanical shift with thru the hub exhaust.

If your boot is square then it is 1968 or older. The round boot started in 1969.
