Re: Need Help In Oklahoma

I'm not sure what he means by not dewinterizing it but he will start it? He could possibly be talking about not putting the muffs on it to start it for 10-20 seconds, which wouldn't add water to the system. Other than making sure all draincocks are closed, fluids are good, and battery is topped off, there isn't much else to de-winterizing a boat. I would assume the boat has an Alpha I Gen II drive as starting a Gen I without muffs would be a sign to not buy the boat for sure!

Still, it wouldn't be worth your time to drive down there and not have the boat run long enough to get up to temp so that you can check for normal operation. It also allows for plenty of time for the engine to run water through it to make sure it doesn't have a cracked block from the winter allowing water into the oil. Either have him do his dewinterization and run it on muffs/water test, or don't bother with it.

It all didn't make sense to me either. I'm not going to bother with it unless he calls me back and says we can put it on the water for sea trial.

Ask him to make a successful water test a condition of sale. (basically you commit to buying it, assuming all goes well on a sea trial)

If I end up choosing that boat over the others I will do that.

Found a boat no where near me but it looks like it could be a steal. I would pay to have it shipped if everything checked out. Almost to good to be true. What do you guys think of this boat? http://www.boatparadise.com/boats/ad-148422/

I've checked around and just about every other boat I have found in this same model is at least 15k if not more and this one is only $8,300.

You can always look into it, but I agree that it seems shady that they'd be asking half of market value.

I agree with hauln's concerns. Scams are everywhere. But I found my 27' cruiser while in Florida (Miami Beach) and picked it up for 1/3 of the money of an identical boat @ Lake of the Ozarks. I replaced the manifolds, elbows and scraped the barnacles off her keel. She may be thin on the gel coat, but I saved a bundle.
So how can you find a local iboater to take a look at it, just for confirming - not appraising?
Trim, it took me almost 2 years to find my boat. Be patient, it will come to you. . .

2006 SeaRay 185 Sport
$13,500 (OBO)
Priced to sell fast.
Moving to Cali for new job & can't take it with me.
Lots of upgrades on this boat.
It has a custom Wakeboard tower with board racks.
Swim deck with ladder on back to get in & out easy.
LED lights on the tower.
I've spent over $2000 on stereo and speakers.
It has 4 Infiniti tower speakers. 2 Kicker 6/9 tower speakers.
2 12inch subs
2 Rockford Fosgate amps.
Head Unit with remote control and it also has an Ipod plug in that plays and charges your Iphone,Ipad or Ipod
I also installed a custom Ipad mount on the dash so you can watch movies, surf the web, listen to music or anything you want.
It's always been stored inside a heated garage.
Interior is in great condition.
The trailer tongue folds back so it will fit in any normal size garage. The tower also folds down for easier storage.
It runs like BRAND NEW and it gets GREAT GAS mileage.
This boat is perfect for a family and for people who like to Wakeboard or do any other water sports.
If interested call me at 4*5-2*4-8**1
We can take it to Arcadia and test drive it if you're serious about buying it.

Why is he now saying it's winterised and won't take it out?

I wondered the same thing. Must not want to sell it that bad.
