Re: Need Help!! Info On A Boat

Need better info, Boater. There is no such critter as a "Johnson" Boston Whaler, but Boston Whalers were often equipped with Johnson outboards.

The 1976 Boston Whaler 13s were 13'4" and there were at least three models of the 13. The 15s were 15'4" and there were 4 models. Ratings varied depending on the model. Need more accurate measurement.

What size engine do you have?

How is it laid out? For tiller steer, side console without railings, side console with wrap around railings?

A photo would be ideal.

Re: Need Help!! Info On A Boat

I think we need a pic of that boat.

If it is a 13 it is overpowered. The highest rating for a 13 was 40HP.

If it is a 15 the title is incorrect in 2 ways. Wrong name and wrong length.

The side console and wrap around railing suggests either a Super Sport 13 or a Super Sport 15.

I now wonder if it is really a Boston Whaler.

Forget what it says on the title, Boater. That is obviously screwed up. If you can't get us a pic, please take actual measurements.

THE MEASUREMENTS ARE RIGHT.

looking at the boat from the rear. there should be a number stamped into the outside of the transom, or the upper right side. what is the number. this is the actual ID number, and will be definitive. we can look it up.

Well, I don't know what it is but it isn't even close to any real Boston Whaler.

Somebody pulled a real fraud when they titled it.

Re: Need Help!! Info On A Boat

Alright, here's the deal. Johnsen Boats (not Johnson) and White's Fiberglass have the same address in Groveland, Florida. Are you sure your boat's name is not Johnsen?

If you've misspelled the name of the boat manufacturer, then we're all wasting our time here. Please look again and make sure you've spelled the name correctly.

Johnsen Boats, also known as White's Johnsen, makes fiberglass boats that look just like yours.

So, please go look again at the Manufacturer's plate in your boat, and report back with what it actually says, letter for letter.

That is what is on the title. One can put just about anything they want on a title. Is there plate "on the boat"?

Re: Need Help!! Info On A Boat

There probably will not be any information forthcoming. You're probably within horsepower limitations on that boat, or maybe 5 hp too high, but not to worry.

White's Fiberglass apparently still exists, in Groveland, Florida.

22036 County Road 33
Groveland, FL 34736
(352) 429-2700

Why not call them on the phone? Have your boat's ID number handy. They can probably tell you what you want to know.

There still should be a capacity plate on the boat somewhere, probably near the console. Lots of times, they get covered up by something, or painted over.

Apparently, they didn't make a ton of Johnsen boats, so there's not a lot of info on the web.

Call 'em!

Update: They appear to be out of business, according to the Coast Guard site, but the business may still exist:

Additional update: The molds from WFG were acquired by another maker. Here's that maker's info:
