I am looking at purchasing a pontoon http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/boa/2478058183.html . I would like something to fish from, but also big enough to fit my family (me, wife & 3 kids), along with some other friends 4 adults & 5 kids for weekend outings. I am a little hesitant, because I think it may be too big for me & my family which would be taking it out the majority of the time, but would like to be able to accomidate more, when needed. Is this a good size or is it too big? How good would this pull a tube? Is this a good price? Any other info is greatly appreciated.

Hey "Lazy" you could probably name your price on that rig. Most people I know rarely complain about having too big of a boat. You will probably want a tow vehicle w/ V8 power, unless you have a slip somewhere. Assuming the motor is tuned and running properly, it should tow a tube just fine. If you've never owned a "toon" before, it's not a steep learning curve. You'll be fine. Good luck, and keep us informed.

There are many variables in pricing this boat, mainly where you are located. It is a 25 year old boat and I assume the motor is original.
I think that is a reasonable price IF you can water test it AND if the motor runs good. And $2500 cash may just buy it so that is where I would start.
As Rooster said, nobody every complains about having too big of a boat and you'll have little problem adapting to it.

Location and condition will determine price. My only concern with this one is the pontoons. They are the foam filled type. Make sure you don't have a leak. If you have wet foam you are in for a world of hurt.

Hi lazy. The ad has been deleted so I can't be sure, but I did glance at it last night and if my eyes didn't deceive me the barge was sitting on a scissor (or something similar) trailer. If so, I would keep looking if you want something you can tow on a regular basis. In fact, I think I'd pass on that one for a number of reasons.
