NEED HELP...lower unit swap for mercury V1500 and 115

hello,
i am new to the boating world.i bought a 1978 boat with a 1978 mercury 150 V1500,last weekend the lower unit took a dump.I have found a 1982 mercury 115 that i can buy for $250 running..Now will the lower unit work on my 150???please help,or should i just swap the 115 over to my boat??i would think the wiring and cables should all be the same for thoes engines??

It will work with a couple of mod's.Swapping motors will require a lot of wiring cut and splicing.

OK, so what kind of mods please?? And the other motor has the wire harness and controls with it

hello,
Now will the lower unit work on my 150???

no... drive shaft to short ('bout 3/4") won't fully ingage tha crank and front stud won't line up... do like tha man says and change motor n all if ya wanna use it.....

well looks like my 150 is done...the new 115 im picking up tommrow,what all will i need to make this work on my boat??will my control box and cables still work on this??and where is the best place to get a wiring harness??
