Hi, new to the site and need some help from any one who knows any thing about Searays. I bought a Sundancer and have been looking for the location of the inverter. In my breaker box there is a breaker for the inverter but I can not find where it is mounted at all. I have searched all over for it but with no luck. I can only run the stove and water heater and ac on shore power so I figured there has to be a fuse on the inverter that has popped maybe. Surely these items can be used when out on the water. I am also new to this size of boat so I hope I sound silly. Went from a 18' runabout to this 27' cabin criuser and so far love it. Please help with any info, thanks.

I have a 1987 Sundancer 300 real similar to your boat. There's probably no inverter on the boat. You need a generator to run those items. Figure 20 amps at 110V for the hot water heater, 30 amps at 110v for the AC, and 10 amps at 110V for the stove. That's 6600 watts. Start up loads will be higher than that. Just to run the AC would take a 4000 watt inverter. 4000 watts at 12 volts will require 333 amps! You MIGHT get an hour out of a battery before you totally ruined it if you tried to put that much constant drain on it.

My boat has a built-in 5000 watt generator to run the high current stuff when you're not on shore power. Lots of people who don't have built-in generators use the Honda EU2000 generators sitting on the swim platform. Make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector in the cabin.

The Club Sea Ray site (http://clubsearay.com/forum/index.php) has lots of good info on the older Sea Rays in their "Classic Sea Rays" forum.

My 1989 SeaRay 220DA has an inverter, I believe it was an option. My setup has one battery on each side of the engine and there is an inverter right next to the battery on/off switch. I believe my setup is all factory and the area I am referring to is on the forward bulkhead of the engine bay.

Hope this helps.

My 1988 268 Sundancer has a converter and not an inverter. Are you sure it says inverter in the breaker box? I'm with 45Auto in that you can't/don't want to run these appliances on 12 volt power anyway.
