I'm having problem pulling the lower unit.. I've got almost everything
loose, but something is holding it. I have removed 6 bolts between lower column
to the engine and bunch of other stuff. Is there a retainer clip or something that will not let drive shaft go down?. I just wanted to check the impeller but this job is getting bigger than I thought. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You only need to remove the gearcase there is a nut under a cover on the front and a screw in the exhaust snout.Gearcase should come off including the drive shaft.the impeller is just above the anti ventilation plate. My manual is a little sketchy do to a lack of factory data.It is possible the drive shaft is stuck in the crankshaft. The only thing water cooled is the exhaust leg.The power head is air cooled. As you may know Clinton has been out of business for some years.

Steelespike,

I have little bit of a gap between engine and lower column, and it is loose. Seems like it should come off, but it is stuck. I really didn't want to force it and break something else. I do have owners manual, and part of sea king manual for j500 and j700,but it hasn't really helped me yet. If drive shaft is stuck in crankshaft, do you have any suggestion how I can loose it up ?

sometimes the water tube gets stuck in the impeller housing and the driveshaft could be stuck, try sanfordsgoodies.com

yanker, your drive shaft is rusted into the crankshaft. It will be anything from gentle persuasion to impossible to get out.

If your K753 is like my K900 and I think it is, then you have to pull the motor up then unfasten the shift rod before it will drop.
