Need help on this 8hp Tohatsu

Can someone please help me with this motor. It is a 8hp Tohatsu. Cannot find model number on block. I found some numbers on the carburator housing. The person I bought it from warned me itis going to need a water pump. I went to start it after bringin it home and lots of white smoke came out and no water through pee hole coming out. I quickley shut it off to avoid overheating. I took it apart and this is the impeller i found to be. Slight wears on walls but no missing blade. Could it need a new impeller, or shall I put it back together in meanwhile and try to spray WD40 up pee holes or stick a wire through? Are the small wears causing the water not to come out pee hole? The engine looks very clean and well taken care of, all links and moving parts are well greased.

Impeller looks shot to me and water port in photo #3 looks to be gunked up with grey slime...............Don

It would appear that you have an M8B. You can d/l a copy of the owner's manual from tohatsu.com The model would not be on the block, but rather on a sticker-tag near the transom clamps. You have had a severe overheat of the water pump, such as would happen if it ran out of the water. It got so hot that it melted the upper water pump housing somewhat, as well as tearing up the impeller. It may (or may not) be possible to fix the housing by chipping the plastic crud out of the passage; And you may (or may not) be able to re-use the grommet between the housing and the water pipe... but I wouldn't. You want to get:
