Hello! I have this 12 foot alumacraft model ez (serial number ez6-3214) and I would like to find some info on the transom so I can restore it correctly. The boat is at least thirty five years old and my brother had redone the transom some time ago and had modified the layout to accomodate some motor he had. Hence, no original boards to size from and I belive there should also be a top aluminum brace that is also missing. Any info or pictures would greatly be appreciated. Thanks much!

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I emailed alumacraft about the wood on my transom, mine was redone with green treat and I want to replace is. They said they have heard of the concern with green treat but have experienced no problems, in their modern boats they use marina ply and on a old boat the inside board would have been oak and the outside board marina ply. cant help you much with the sizing or a aluminum cap however.

Re: Need help on transom

Thanks for the reply Andyrmilwaukee. I was also able to contact the company and they said oak on the inside, marine ply outside of transom. I have also heard about the treated wood problem and would be best to stay away from that. I have heard of one instance that it severly corroded the metal in just one years time. They also sent a scanned image from the 1961 catalog that shows the EZ model, but not a good transom shot. Also, I am looking for some decals to replace the side ones that have long been missing. Do you know of any place to find such decals?

Im in the same boat as far as the decals go. I did find some vintage alumacraft decal repicas on ebay, but not exactly what I was looking for. they might however be the kind from your boat just go to ebay and type in alumacraft decal. the previous owner of my boat put one of those dumb fish jumping out of the water on decals on my boat and I sure would like to find the original decals. Are you going to shine the aluminum? I sure would like to restore that new shine but I dont know what product to use.
