Im about to take my panels off and the bow cushions and remake all new wood for them and recover all of it
but still re-using the old foam.

Now, my question is......
Can this be done without a sewing machine (even if i had one id have no idea how to sew)
I remember doing go cart and minibike seats as a kid and just folding the corners and stapling to the back of the ply.
Can this method be used OK on my boat?

It doesnt have to be fancy, i have very simple panels and not really a lot to do anyway (small boat)
Im also just going with one color, so no seams needed etc..

If so where can i get stainless staples?

Also, how do yall estimate how much vinyl you will need to buy? im gonna order online and dont wanna come up short
and have to re-order. I found some for $9.99 yd, 54 IN wide. This a good price?
Its $17 locally at fabric store....
thanks in advance!

I got ALL my Vinyl from this guy.
items in Trimjobber Canvas Vinyl and Fabric store on eBay!
Yes you can do it with staples but... I will Not look very good. Stainless staples can be purchased at Lowes.
A yard of vinyl is usually 54 x 36 soo. Measure all of the areas you need to recover and then apply that to the formula. I'd add 10 to 15% to make sure you have enuf.

Luke, the last one I did I found a neighbor that loved to sew, and traded a few outings on the boat for new seat covers :)

The best price I found was at Joann Fabrics it is like $14.99 per yard there but every month they put out coupons for 40 and 50% off, which makes it a great deal.

Joann fabrics where i went an checked tonight... $16.99 yd
If i used a coupon, i wonder if it would save %40-%50 on the whole purchase of vinyl,
Or if they will only give the discount on the first yard...?

Discount is usually on one item. If you buy X yards it is all reduced.

Pictures would really help to determine if it should be sewn or if the corners could be folded or pulled and still look good.

Keep your carpet (at least the main floor area) the color of dirt :p I had navy carpet in my last boat and it was a friggin' nightmare. Even when freshly cleaned, all it took was one step into the boat from the ground and it looked filthy again. Stick to a light gray or beige.

LOL Do you think my carpet is "dirt color"?
The carpets blue, but in the main part i ripped it up. So what your seeing is dirt color
Its the bare dirty wood with dirt and mold on it.

I think your right, im gonna go with gery carpet. But o you think it would blend with the vinyl if i made that grey too?
the carpets a little darker shade of grey.
What color should i mix in with it?

Gray goes with everything, including other shades of gray.

I got a great deal on vinyl....I got a %50 coupon of i-net for joanns fabric.
Regular price for marine vinyl $16.99. I got it for half price. $87 n change for 10 yards , which is a whole new roll.
This is excellent quality material, almost feels like a wetsuit material.

NOW for my stupidity, i was soo excited about getting $180 vinyl for 87...
I bought a whole roll of RED INSTEAD OF GREY!!!
I couldnt even belive it... so if they wont return it for grey, how do yall think red vinyl would look?
Im also adding a couple pieces of medium blue for accent stripes.
Will red vinyl with blue accent stripes and grey carpet look ok?
My other seats (pictured above) are grey wih blue accent and red pinstripe.

Is 3/8 ply good for side panels? Thats what they appear to be now... they have to flex to make the curve at the bow.
But i dont want them to snap from leaning on them.

When you hover the cursor over one of your pics in your library...a "flower" or a "gear" will appear in the upper right hand corner of it...that's what WoG is talking about...
Another way is to click on the picture itself, it will switch to a full size image...then look to the right of it and there will be a few selections, click on "IMG code" and it will turn Yellow and say COPIED...then paste it here in your reply...
