Ahoy, any of you have any details on rebuilding Solex 44 PAI on my 85 Bayliner Capri with Volvo AQ125B engine. I am not enough gas and accelerator pump is not working good so I purchased the rebuilt kit but before I take it appart I would like to know how difficult is it to rebuilt and anything I should watch out for while doing it? Also I cannot find any specs on adjusting this carb anywhere.

One more thing do I need to adjust anything to compensate for High altitude? I'll be running the boat at Big Bear Lake which is at Approx 5000-6000" above sea level.

Any diagrams, spec sheets, detail instructions or write up on this procedure will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

OK, so nobody wants to touch this one huh? Just got the seloc repair manual from library and it looks pretty simple. They do not list any special adjustments other then Idle and Air mixture screws.

So I guess inside the carb is no special settings or adjustments to be performed.
NE1 knows if that is correct?

Thanks

Just rebuilt both of mine, Its not hard but if you have dual carbs like i do, you will need a uni sync to adjust them. Take them apart and soak them in the gallon can parts cleaner you can buy at any auto parts store. mine runs great after the rebuild.

Almost forgot, after you rebuild your carb set the air mixture screw by running it in until it just seats then back it out 1 1/4 turns. The idle speed screw back it out untill it just touches the throttle plate then turn it in 1 turn. That will get you close.

It is easy to rebuild. Just take you time and take note of how everything comes apart and then put it back the same way. When I rebuilt mine, I did not use the parts cleaner, I used brake cleaner to clean everything. Worked great, but mine was not really gummed up. I understand that parts cleaner is pricey.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Thanks guys, I went to the public library and got the Seloc manual, while waiting for your replies I bought small electric fuel pump and run the gas thru fuel filter for about 10 hrs total and all came up clean, no major contaminants in fuel. Filter was almost like new with only a slight discolloration on bottom, I think the fuel is clean.

Then I checked the carb closer and noticed the four bolts on the intake manifold were loose - major loss of vaccum - I retighten them all and also checked all other screws and retighten them all.

Took the boat out yesterday - she was simply amazing. I did put the carb rebuilding job on my winter things to do list. For now I just want to enjoy the rest of the season on the lake.

Thanks
