Re: Need help replacing prop

I'm pretty new too. This forum ahs been a great deal of help to me so far.

Regarding your prop, what makes you ask about replacing? Is it because your current prop is beat up? Or is the boat behaving in a way that you want to address/correct with a different prop?

If you just want to replace it because it's jagged, you might consider having it repaired. You'll have to find a place that you're willing to work with, either local to you or via internet/shipping, etc. Or, you might buy a duplicate replacement, mount it, and have the old one repair as a spare. To go this route you would need to determine your prop's dimensions. Somewhere on it will be a number stamped into metal like 15x17, or 14.75-16P, or some such. These are the diameter and the blade pitch respectively. Armed with these numbers, you can begin the search. You know your model and year, so you'll be looking for a prop that mates properly to the output shaft.

Propping to correct performance is more involved. That's where you'll need to know what RPMs your engine SHOULD be turning at wide open throttle (WOT) vs. what it actually IS. Also, you'll need to rule out other engine issues that might be affecting performance, because a different prop won't undo a tuning problem.

Like I said, this place is great and I'm sure you'll find what you need here with a little patience, persistence, and willingness to click...

Make a couple of runs with a light load.Get us the prop size.On the barrel or under the prop nut.Your max rpm and speed preferably by gps.We really need the rpm and speed
Speed by speedo is ok but can be suspect. There are some Chrysler/Force guys here that
can get you going with the right specs from you.
