What does this motor need to do....
when i am driving and get at WOT 65mph There is a ton of wheel torque
if i try to trim the motor up anymore the boat gets real real loose, chine walking that you can not drive out off and I have a rooster tail about 2x's the height of the motor.

the boat is a 18'ft bumble bee provee 180
Optimax 175
12" jack Plate
25p tempest Plus prop

Whats your water pressure reading? Is the nose kitey? What year "Bee" as the hulls changed in 2001? A good starting point is, center of prop shaft about 3" below pad and then start raising. The torque is likely from LU being to deep in water and the later "bees" do have a little chine walk but should be able to drive thru it. The rooster tail does it go down when you trim up and is it solid or choppy?
Old racer saying: When in doubt ,Trim it out!!!

Re: need help Setting motor up...

I can drive out of it somewhat the water was real ruff yesterday though, the roster tail is solid.

the hull is a 1995 bee.
Im just thinking the boat should cruze at 65... the wheel feels like its about to rip out of my hand
.
I figured i could get 70+ out of this boat and motor.

water pressure is around 10-15psi

the motor had a huge whale tail on it from when i bought it but i took it off today to see if that makes a difference.

What steering do you have? Sounds like it's not an NFB system. That would eliminate the torque issue.
Despite the varying opinions, tabs can help as well. I'm seeing them more and more on bassboats and they do help.
Fazt should be able to help as he runs one of the faster brands out there- chine walk is common on many bassboats- you are on a very small part of the hull and it doesn't take a lot to influence the ride- waves, currents, wind, etc can all have an impact.
I've been in some boats that seem to be rock steady at all times and some that like to squiggle a bit at speed. This sounds silly but my boat exhibits a weird behavior as well. I have a 19' ProLine center console and the hull is as smooth as a baby's butt- no strakes, chines, etc. Completely smooth all the way to the stern. At WOT with the engine trimmed as high as I can, I'll run over 50 mph and the boat gets "wiggly" as I would term it. Almost like a rock skipping on the surface. I have no "pad" so to speak but only the back 3 feet of my boat will be in the water and it moves around a bit. It's a cool feeling if you can stomach it. Of course my boat will also "skid" a lot on a hard turn- kind of like drifting. LOL
