I am having my motor replaced on my bowrider, while it is apart he is going through the rest of the parts. On motor, and outdrive. He said the spline? i believe, the drive from the motor i'm assuming, is worn, trianglular shaped instead of square, he said while the motor is out now would be the time to replace it, ok fine. How much should this part cost me. He's telling me 500.

Possibly means the coupler mounted to the flywheel.

Is this also called the upper driveshaft? Should this part be costing me 500?

If the coupler needs to be replaced, the driveshaft that goes into it probably needs to be replaced as well.

My suggestion is talk to your mechanic and have him show you the parts.

Thanks, i'll have to do that. I did some research and i think he is talking about the coupler also. But for that price he'd better be replacing the engine coupler, and the yoke with new u joints.

What engine/drive do you have? $500 for both seems too cheap.
