need help startine a rapido reman engine

greeting everyone, i am back tonight i am asking for some info on how to start a 5.7 260 . every thing is install its now time to crank it and get it firing.

i was told to mak sure i prime it first by getting the oil pressure up, this is where i need help.

i was planning on pulling the coil wire and crank it over antil i get oil pressure,

someone told me to pull the distributor and put something like a big screwdriver type in a drill and spins the oil pump and get the pressure up, then turn the engine by hand, spin the drill again turn it by hand again, that should do it.

last is there a special tool i can perchase to use in the drill??

There Is a special Tool,+ That Is the proper way to do it...........

That said,......
Your 1st Idea will work,.... If you pull the Sparkplugs,... Not just the Coil Wire.....

thanks bondo , so what you are saying is that the spark plugs has to be pull?? and the cranking stunt should work??

ok after starting remmber the boat is on land i will have water hose heedind the engin with cooling water with some flushing after evey run setup i came up with.

at first start how long can i run the engine at idle and what rpm .

last how to break this bad boy in once i get it in the water??

Ayuh,.....

By pulling the Plugs,... There's No Compression......

The motor spins Faster, with Less Stress,+ Resistence......
More oil pressure, Quicker.....

just a little more info again please guys dont kill me for asking/

with the boat launch and tied up in my dock i meant real tied up , can i bump it in gear and rev it up to 2500 3000 rpm ? will that consider breaking it in or o will have to take her out for a ride to break it in. let me hear your thoughts.

Why not just go take a nice ride for a few hours to break it in? Tying it up is a bad idea, since it's going to put WAY more strain on the engine, than a nice cruising speed. You're really not even supposed to pull skiers 'till it's broken it, why would it ever be a good idea to try and pull an immovable object?

Just break it in properly. Shortcuts will get you nowhere, in a hurry!

ok thanks so tied up is just toss out the window, update on the start up engine sound fine as heck, oil pressure is great will keep yall posted after my first run thanks.

If in NYC where you docked at the Mill Basin Marina? Geritson Beach somewhere?
