Need help to Identify Manufacturer

I bought this old boat from a neighbor. It has a faded decal on the side that has "Cherokee" on each rear side. I think that is the model not the manufacturer. I have read on the net that Ranger made some "cherokee" boats but I think this is too old of a boat to be a Ranger. There are 2 tags attached to the inside of the tramsom, the tag on the starboard side has "M5-12279-B0" and the tag on the port side has "F12465". Does anyone know of a manufacturer that had "cherokee" models? Any help appreciated.

Cant you just ask your neighbor about the manufacturer of this boat.

well, finally the neighbor found the paperwork on the boat and it was manufactured by Cherokee. It is a 1963 model boat, model unknown. I can't seem to find any information about the Cherokee boat manufacturer but maybe I will run across some info in the near future........

PS.....that Mercury 500 outboard is a 1963 model too and in very good shape for it's age. I took off lower unit today to get ready for a impeller replacement when it comes, also the shifter shaft seal was leaking a little too when I pressurized the lower unit so that will be repaired too.

I like the boat. But I realy like the peg board in the back to hang the tools to work on that old merc.
