Hello everyone,

I have a problem on a 2000 Chevrolet Venture van not cranking for me the battery is strong and it does turn but will not fire over. The first time it did it I removed the fuel line going into the fuel filter and had my buddy turn the key to on and nothing no fuel pump sound or nothing out of the fuel line. Then in a couple of days it started right up and ran good for about a month and wouldn't start again. I went ahead and replaced the fuel filter and didn't start so I tapped on the fuel tank with a hammer and she started right up and drove for a few weeks then again it happened would not start so saved up for fuel pump and replaced it this last Saturday and cranked right up on the second turn of the key. Then Monday morning did not crank over it turns over but again will not fire off. Can anybody help me out on this? Do you think maybe the fuel pump relay is working intermittently or does it just die off and not work? I am puzzled over this and I have looked at the wires and what I can see look fine a little dirty though.

check for a 2 second (when the switch is turned to the run position) , 12 volt @ the fuel pump harness near the fuel tan, check for 12 volts while cranking, those pumps need a new wiring harness from the sendor to the pump when they are replaced, most come with the new harness but most folks no not replace it because it looks okay, the connections in the harness (inside the tank) get hot and won't make connection, so if your pump came with new gray and black wires and you left them in the bag that would be the problem..........

////UPDATE////

I went out to the van and it still would turn over but not fire; however, I cannot get to the top of the tank(fuel pump) because it is in between the top of the tank and bottom of the vehicle but I was able to find on the vehicle a big grey receptacle where the wiring harness plugs into then flows along the botttom of the van and over to the fuel pump. Whta I did was unplug it from the big grey receptacle where it plugs into the underneath of the van and check each of the wires going into the connector plug it back in and she started up and ran. I don't know if maybe it wasn't seated all the way into the plug or not but I was able to crank her over probaly about ten times and fired everytime. Maybe it was a abd connection right where it connects underneath the van.
