I picked up an old 5 hp seaking. It's brown with a white top. I can't figure out how to put lubricant in the lower unit or what to put in the lower unit.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a Clinton. If you post the model number, we can confirm. The gearlube in those is more like a light grease. You have to disassemble it to clean it out. It's in there more or less permanently. There is a large screwdriver slot on the bottom and a small one somehere up further on the side. Fill from the bottom til it oozes out the top. Lubriplate 105 is the product I believe.

Thank you for the response. I reposted with numbers...and, of course, new problems.

Help.
I have a Seaking 5.0 hp, air cooled, motor made by Clinton. Model # 5055106A, Serial 1480536, Type XTV50505A, with a Tillotson carb.

I put an impulse fuel pump on it and cleaned the carb. I can now make it run seemingly for a long time but not idle very well nor run very well when shifted into gear and the throttle is opened up. I also adapted a pull cord from a lawn mower that seems to work well. The transmission shifts ok.

I am hoping for any or all of several things:
1. Any idea of the year?
2. Why won't it run at high and low speeds?
3. Is there a place to get parts?
4. How do I put fluid in the lower unit?
5. Why does exhaust come out of two places? (blow off from the impluse fuel pump, maybe?)
